As a reader and a writer of short stories, I think they are the perfect form for today’s world.
They are short (duh), but they can leave a big impression, haunting you for days after reading them.
I’m forming a Short Story Club. Each month, we’ll read and discuss two short stories. This is how it’ll work:
The first post will contain the details of the short story we’re going to read with a free epub link to download (created especially for Short Story Club).
The second post will contain my thoughts after reading the story a few times, inviting you to share your thoughts also.
Why do this?
Short fiction lends itself very well to be discussed. And, selfishly, I just want friends to share this with. That, and challenging us all to look at things differently, seeing things we don’t see while reading alone.
So, join me, why won’t you, and let’s celebrate short stories.
What types of things will you we be reading?
We will focus more on the haunted, the crazy, the futuristic. While we will lean more on the horror and science fiction genres, we will touch on more literary pieces from time to time.
To give you a flavour, this could include Ray Bradbury, Joyce Carol Oates, Daphne du Maurier, Harlan Ellison, Thomas Ligotti, and many, oh so many more.
You can see an example of the types of elements I’ll be discussing here:
When will we begin?
As soon as I can find people happy to sign up to join me! Subscribe and look out for updates for our first story.
Short stories do stick with you! Do we get to nominate some for consideration as well?
